[Story] Missing
Walking back home from the aftermath of the Wonder Quartet, Yuma's head was still a mess of all the things that had happened. He still wasn't sure what to make of it all and he still felt a little bad that he and Alex wouldn't be able to support Yuya if they did go ahead and take their own path separate from him, but, in the end, he wanted to do what he could to stop Academia and following Reiji just didn't feel like the right choice for himself.
He gave out a sigh. He knew no matter how many times he went over this all in his head, it wasn't going to make anymore sense right now. He honestly was just looking forward to getting home, having a nice home cooked meal and just relaxing the rest of the night with Kotori.
Suddenly, a ring tone played out from his duel disk. Looking at it, he could see that it was his sister that was calling him, so he answerd it.
"Hey, sis!"
From the other end came Akari's frantic voice.
"Yuma! We've been trying to get a hold of you!"
"Eh? You know I was taking part in the Wonder Quartet and... it got a little crazy. I'll tell you about it when I--"
"Yuma." Akari broke him off suddenly. "Kotori's gone missing. We haven't been able to contact her or find her anywhere."
Yuma's heart instantly dropped.
Kotori was not the type to disappear somewhere and not tell anyone, so something had to of happened to her.
It couldn't be...
"I'll go and look for her!"
"Yuma, wai--"
Yuma hung up before Akari could even reply to him and he quickly ran off through the streets. She had to be somewhere. There had to be a clue to say what happened to her.
Just, there had to be something.
He checked all the places he knew she liked, all the places she had likely to have been. He asked around, he searched high and low, but there was nothing. Nobody had seen her and there was no clue to where she could be, but Yuma didn't stop. Despite feeling tired from the last 24 hours, he couldn't stop looking, not until he found something.
It was hours later when his body finally started to give in on him. He collapsed onto a bench in the park, before hunching over and covering his face with his hands in despair.
He'd found nothing. He'd even tried calling her numerous times and there had been no response.
She was gone.
Reiji had said the Academia attack had been contained to the Wonder Quartet, but... what if it hadn't. What if one lone Academia soldier had been active outside the Quartet and found Kotori. Reiji suggested that them being from Heartland and using XYZ summoning could practically mark them for dead.
And even if it had been contained, it was possible Kotori had wandered accidentally into one of the fields. Shirou had been able to, after all.
Yuma let out a small frustrated cry through his gritted teeth as those thoughts passed through his head.
"Damn it. Damn it...!!"
He wanted to protect her. He wanted to make sure she was safe, but in the end, he wasn't there when he needed to be.
As he sat there and silently blamed himself, he was unaware of Akari, who was stood nearby.
"There you are..."
Yuma quickly looked up when he heard her voice. She wore a similar disheartened expression on her face.
Giving out a sigh, she slowly approached her brother.
"I was looking everywhere for you. C'mon, let's go--"
"No!"
Yuma snapped at her as he jumped up from the bench. "I can't go anywhere! I need to keep looking! I need to--"
Yuma stopped talking when Akari simply lifted her arms up and gently placed them on Yuma's shoulders. She didn't say anything to him. She just shook her head slowly with a deflated look on her face.
Yuma remained quiet for a moment, before he lifted his hand to his face and simply broke down crying.
"I'm so stupid!! I couldn't even be there to protect her when she needed it!"
Akari knew he was feeling guilty and he was trying to put blame on himself. To be honest, she felt guilty too. She'd gone through the motions herself, but she knew there was nothing they could of done.
"Yuma. It's not your fault."
Yuma carried on crying for a moment, before he eventually calmed down and wiped the tears from his eyes.
"Come on." Akari patted his shoulder lightly. "You need to eat something and get some rest. We've got some stew cooking at home."
Yuma gave her a silent nod as he began to slowly follow her out of the park.
As he did, his thoughts began to wander back to the situation with Academia and his arrangement with Alex. It was more important to him than ever now to find his own way to Academia with her and together find a way to save those that were carded by Academia.
He was going to find a way to save Kotori, no matter what.

[Post - Posted late on the same day the Wonder Quartet ended]
Kotori's missing.
We can't find her anywhere and we can't get in contact with her.

When's the last time you spoke to her?!
no subject
My family said she went out later in the day and never came back!
no subject
It's okay. She might've just...lost her phone and gotten held up in all the chaos somewhere.
no subject
My sis reported her as missing to the police too and even they haven't found any trace of her.
I'm not sure but... what if Academia got her?

No, but... can Akaba Reiji be sure that it was just contained to the Wonder Quartet? Or maybe she accidentally wandered into one of the fields. Shirou was able to!
It's just... this all happens and then Kotori just vanishes with no trace and--
... I don't even know what to think any more!
no subject
We'll find her, okay? We'll look for her together.
no subject
I definitely won't give up until I find her, no matter what I have to do!

Thanks. If there's anyway we can, that'd be a huge help!

When did you last see her?
no subject
Yesterday morning. Before I left for the Wonder Quartet.
no subject
Do you know the reason why she left? Where she was going?
no subject
They said nothing was out of the ordinary, they just warned her that it might be busy cos of areas being blocked of by the Quartet.
But she never came back home.

Or it wasn't where she was heading for, in the first place.

For now, all I can really do is assume she might of wandered too far and Academia got her...
no subject
Are you going to be taking part in this whole thing that Akaba's setting up?
no subject
Alex and I talked about the whole thing and we decided we're setting up our own group. We want to find our own path to dealing with Academia.
no subject
Not that I can blame you there.
But if she has been taken by Academia... Do you plan on just heading for there right off the bat?
no subject
As much as I want to, it probably would be a dumb idea to charge in with a small group of us. I'm not even sure who exactly will be joining us yet.
So, I dunno whether we will or whether we'll try and gather more allies elsewhere first. Alex and I still need to work out the details of it.

Other than take down these Academia people, but that's a given.

Hi.

I'm Shark.
But really. You and Tsukumo are going off on your own?

Though I guess it's harder for me to judge "direct route" when I'm hearing stuff about "synchro" worlds, or whatever it is that seems to be Akaba's current plan.

Something's happened to her and I don't know what!
There's a chance she might of somehow got caught up in the Academia stuff and they got to her. Maybe there was an Academia soldier that went undetected outside of the Quartet, or maybe she accidentally wandered into one of the duel fields... I don't know...
She's just... gone...
