Last night was sure something.

Akae and I went out alien hunting in the woods last night. To be honest, I wasn't taking it all that seriously and I thought it was just a bit of fun! But I was wrong. Real wrong. We ended up getting ambushed by this guy who was apparently after our Numbers Cards, on orders from some high court or something! And he'd been responsible for the other attacks too!

I guess on one hand, we did end up helping to find out a little about the guy doing those attacks and I was able to give information about the monsters he used, which I think helped a lot, but on the other, we did kinda ignore the curfew and ended up getting into real bad trouble. I mean, it seemed like we were doing really well against this guy in the duel, but then he gets out this 4000 ATK dragon, destroys Hope with it's effect, then was gonna bring something else out. I dunno what it was, but I really didn't like the feel of what he was bringing out.
I really don't know what would of happened if Samasu-sensei didn't intervene when he did.

It sounds like this guy may come back after us at some point, but there's no way I'll let him take Hope and my other Numbers!!

Realize we're being harsh on you not out of cruelty, but because we want better for you. We've seen too many students hurt, killed or twisted into people they didn't want to be.

Well, the school has a vested interest in making sure you keep safe. And Wakahisa-sensei has your best interests at heart, without a doubt - I was at the Academy when many of the incidents she speaks of went down. They... aren't pretty. But as someone who burned the midnight oil far more than I probably should have during my time there, I can understand what you're doing, believe me.

The increased security on-school, the Special Investigations department, even Juudai's Spirit-Arcadia Institute...they're all spearheaded by people who remember or were around nearly a decade ago when the island was the center of so many incidents - the massacre Wakahisa-sensei talked about was just one of them. I can recall a half-dozen, myself.

Special Investigations is all about helping protect people from the big threats, to try and stop things before they get too insane... and, where needed, act as a go-between between Earth and the Twelve Dimensions.

Still, I've gotten into trouble more than I'd care to admit - doing what I felt was the right thing.

Man. I really didn't realize how big or serious any of this stuff was!

I want to do the right thing and I can never ignore someone who needs help, but, I've been threatened with expulsion from the Academy twice now, I don't want to make it a third time cos I know I'll be out for sure.
I get the feeling with this guy after my Numbers Cards that staying out of trouble is gonna be really really hard but... no more purposely ignoring rules... if I can help it.

It's okay - it helps we don't talk about it much. And Domino wasn't quite as... popular, as it was back then.

Nor would I expect you to ignore someone who needs help! And if you have to break a few rules to save someone, I'll be first in line to say that you were in the right.

But... yes. The closer you can stay on the straight and narrow for the time being, the better. And don't be afraid to ask us for some help. People like Juudai and I have been around the block - and you aren't the first person to have powers that need developing, after all.

Oh Yuma... I really don't know whether I should be angry at you for purposely ignoring that curfew or just be glad that your teacher was there to help the both of you.

I was an idiot. I know. I was already on thin ice as it was and I completely did something stupid and put myself on even thinner ice.

I know you're sorry, Yuma, but...
... just please. Listen to them. This isn't like our old school back in Heartland, you can't just goof-off all the time. Especially if this Academy really does have such a bad history. They're just trying to make sure you're safe.

You've always been impulsive and hotheaded, but you need to be more responsible with your decisions there. You need to think a little more before you act on something. Think how it reflects on you, or on the people around you and whether there's a better way to deal with an issue.

I know.
But I just keep acting before I really think!

And I think the worst of it is... that I keep feeling like I'm letting you guys down with every mistake I make.

Mistakes happen. We all make them. But it's what you learn from the mistakes which is important.

No matter what happens, me, your sister and grandmother will always support you. We just get angry sometimes when things like this happen, because we know you can do better. You've already proven you can to us. You've worked hard to get better at your dueling and you worked hard to get better with your school work.

You're at that school to prove yourself, right? Then do it. Don't just prove yourself as a duelist, but as a person. Prove to others and to yourself that you can be the person you want to be.
You don't have to completely change who you are, that wouldn't be right, but growing-up just means you have to be a little more responsible and aware of what you're doing and I think that's what you want. Right now, I think you're just stuck between who you were and who you're growing into.
I know all this weird stuff you're going through doesn't make it any easier, but I know you can do it Yuma. I believe you can.

Well, lessie...
... the first monster he used, that Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, was, well a huge dragon as you can probably guess. It had dark armor-like plating, but the rest of it's body that armor wasn't covering was real shiny, like a blue-white energy. The armor covered mostly it's tail, tops of it's legs and shoulders and part of it's head too. It also had parts of red on it as well.
It also had wings that were both that armor and that shiny bit.

The second monster was Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon and as you can get from the name, it had loads more of the armor covering it's body, no red bits from what I can remember. It still had parts which were shiny, mostly it's wings, hands and legs I think.

The guy himself... hmmmmn... it was kinda like he was cosplaying a human version of that first monster! Lots of dark clothing, he wore a helmet that had a red bit on the forehead part and he also had wing-like things on his back which were shiny like the wings on the monsters!!

...
